Amelia Island River Cruise - Cumberland Island Tour - April 2022

In this case it was a morning cruise on the Miss Kaylynn - one of the 2 boats owned by the Amelia River Cruise company, located in Fernandina Beach, Florida.  Dad and I did the Cumberland Island Tour, which is a 2.5 hour round trip leaving from the docks in downtown Fernandina, cruising out through the channel and then around the Cumberland Island National Seashore.  We started by sailing up the Amelia River, passing by the smelly cardboard plant, and then to Fort Clinch State Park.  After that we passed into Georgia and out into the St. Mary's River, which defines the eastern boundary of Cumberland Island.  We got to enjoy close-up views of the famous Cumberland Island wild horses as well as dolphins, ospreys, a bald eagle and other various wildlife.  We had a special treat - a view of a nuclear submarine located at the Kings Bay Navy Base - super cool!  The entire cruise was narrated by Captains Mark and Nate, and it was very interesting and educational.  The weather was cool, so thankfully they had some blankets for customers to borrow.  After the cruise, I had a nice lunch in downtown Fernandina Beach at the Happy Tomato Cafe - unfortunately the Salty Pelican was crowded.  I really enjoyed this day.

Rock Climbing!

THERE I WAS - at a rock climbing place.  I had just put my shoes on and I was ready for action.  Too bad I had to wait for my friend.  Finally he came with his dad.  When he got done putting on his shoes we could start climbing.  First we climbed on the non-harness rock wall.  That was so much fun!  Then we moved to the harness rock wall and I got to the top one out of three walls.  I had so much fun at the rock climbing place.  Maybe you can also give it a try.

Climbing is always better with a good friend...Thanks for joining Maddox - love, Rosie
